Wow, never saw that before. Red paint factory or after thought. Repainted looks good.

 

The red paint was even rubbing off with my fingers... I took it all off with some nail polish remover... There is NO paint on them now...

I did the same thing. Nail polish remover worked great without melting the plastic. Thank you for the recommendation.

 

Dealer replaced mine under warranty for the same issue.

 

Hmmm... I kinda like the way mine look with no paint now.

 

I discovered just a couple of days ago my '14 started doing the same thing. I, too, removed the remaining paint, using DupliColor paint stripper. Not sure I like the all-black look, but it sure beats blistered & pealing red! May try a different color down the road. Silver, Cyber Gray or Laguna Blue are possibilites....

 

Mine are doing the same thing. I cleaned off the loose paint and started repainting with touch up paint. Will see if I like it. I think my lettering needs to be Torch Red to match the car.

If you've had the paint peel off your lettering on your fuel rail covers at least report it to your Chevrolet service department. If the General receives several reports concerning this matter hopefully they will investigate and correct the problem with the supplier. We're the true testers of our beloved C7 masterpiece, so report any problem you may encounter no matter how minor. This will help future owners (less problems), and the magazine articles won't have anything to complain about besides how the Chevrolet Corvette out performs every vehicle known to man in performance and value.

Nail polish remover, paint stripper, either one. Its probably acetone that's doing the job. Just be sure to test whatever you use in a small area on the bottom side first, as some solvents will damage some plastics, and you don't want to ruin the top side.

 

My 2014 is doing the same thing. Instead of using nail polish remover to remove the remaining paint, can I use fine grit sand paper? I don't want to damage the plastic.

 

Nail polish remover won’t damage the plastic. I did it to my 2014 and it looked fine 2 years later when I sold it.

Had mine replaced under warranty. Or uou can pop them off and send them to a couple of different vendors to be custom painted to match your car or what ever your pocket book will allow.

Brushed stainless covers...

 

I had the same issue on my 2016. I tracked it down to the original hood pad rubbing on the covers. I used a fine 600 grit sandpaper to take off the old paint. I found a Torch Red touch up paint pen t the auto store and slowly and tediously repainted the lettering. I was so happy with the results that I went back to the store and picked up a spray can of Torch Red to paint the plenum cover. My hood pad was badly stained and I did not want it to rub on the covers so I ordered a new custom hood pad. I was just going to paint the lettering but the project snowballed into sonething much bigger! LOL
