Glad it worked out for you but I am very disappointed in their customer service! I will pay more for replacements out of principle and won't deal with them again! A hundred bucks is nothing to me but customer service or lack thereof is where you gain or lose me as a customer!

Thanks Paul. At the end of their emails they ask you how satisfied you were with their service and I did explain my dissatisfaction. I guess whoever received that is what changed things.

From what I can interpret from your reviews, is getting the power stop Z26 pads for my Corvette is like playing roulette, you hit the right one and are very satisfied with good performance cheap costing brakes pads or having to suffer from brown looking rotors. I think I prefer to skip the bad chance of having bad luck and just stay with my stock Z51 brembo pads, which have great dependable stopping power which I can track, they just have very little hardly noticed brake dust on my black wheels that it wash away on a regular wash of my car, no noise coming from them either. Maybe Carbotech 1521 would be a good option (except no track usage.) Somewhere I read that they were noisy, but probably it was just a rare single complaint.

Thanks Richard and Jerry for sharing your experience. Sorry to hear that you went through that bad experience. Probably you received a bad batch, seems the others are happy with them, but I prefer to don't try my luck at the dices.

The OEM Z51 pads stop the car on a dime, I just got sick of having black wheels (& side panels of car) covered in brake dust after literally a 30 mile drive. If your OEM pads are not creating a dust issue, then I wouldn't worry about switching to a different brand. If you're tracking, you'll have the ability to try a variety of pads, as you'll be burning through them at a faster rate than a regular driver ever would. Maybe a brake pad comparison review under track conditions, is in the making :) All the best

I have a set that I will be putting on in the next few weeks. I'll take some before pictures that I can use as comparison for after I put some miles on the new pads. I also purchased these based on recommendations and wanting less dust on the wheels. Probably my largest gripe about having the nice chrome wheels is that they don't stay looking nice after a few miles with the OEM pads.
Just put on the new Z26s yesterday. Thanks a ton Norm for your step by step pics. That made it very easy for me to do the pad swap. Before pictures show the wheels after less than 100 miles since hibernation (before and after cleaning). I will take some more after I put some miles on the car to see how the wheels look. I'm looking forward to more driving time and less cleaning time!

Before cleaning the wheel and after about 100 miles since Ruby came out of hibernation.

After cleaning and before the brake pad swap

Hey Richard--
Let us know how the new Powerstops perform after you have put a few miles on them--Bob

Installed Z26 pads about a year ago on my GS. Dust is reduced greatly and I sense no change in braking performance on the street. No noise, no brown rotors, no other issues. Thumbs up.

So wondering if anyone would like to update this POST with info regarding the browning of the rotors? Considering the swap out but not if my choice is is between brake dust vs browning of the rotors. Looking at brown or rusty rotors is not something I will deal with. Much easier to just clean the wheels each time i drive the car. Has this issue been a problem with the Carbo-Tech pads as well or just Powerstop?

Doesn't make sense to me that they (Power-stop) would say that is normal when so many folks don't have the discoloring issue. Does that mean those pads not causing discoloring are defective??
Perhaps it's an issue with how the vehicle is used? Ie sitting with brake dust on the rotors for long periods between use.
I will never track my car so that use is not important to me. Would like to lessen the brake dust however not at the cost of rusty appearing rotors.

Thanks

I don't think there is an issue with discoloration, I've been running the PowerStops for about 3 months (about 1,000 miles) and the rotors look good to me. Plus the brake performance is excellent and definitely reduced dust!

Agree yours look good . However several folks have had the issue as the prior POSTS show. Trying to get to the bottom of it so i don't waste the time and money and end up with brown rotors. Perhaps it's an issue with the owners use or care that is causing it and if so i would like to know what it is so i don't do it.

Thanks for the reply.

I had powerstop Z26 on my 2015 Z51 car for 15,000 miles. They absolutely turned my rotors brown. I live in Texas, where it is hot and mainly dry. I daily drove the car, and it was kept in the garage and hand washed about once a week, and I would blow dry with 8hp master blaster, then drive around to dry the brakes. I don't think there was anything related to the use or care of the car that contributed to the rotor color change. I think I just got crappy pads where others were lucky and did not.

On my GS, I just installed a different brand that were much more expensive, but I did not want to take the chance again. I can tell you, I noticed a difference in the Z26 pads compared to stock as far as requiring a little more pedal effort when comparing on the Z51 car. When I swapped the pads on my GS, I could tell no difference at all in effort from stock to the new pads.

Yep that's what i am afraid of. Can you PM me the info on your alternative choice please. Include and part numbers. Thanks.

will do. I didn't want this to turn into one of those debates on brands... I think the Z26 were ok other than the pedal effort and browning of the rotors. They absolutely reduced dust to almost nothing.

The Power Stop pads performs just fine for Street Use for me and stopping is fine even stopping from 140-150 mph. I am one of those that never had a problem with discoloration of my rotors until I placed the Power Stop pads on. I will also add that the Power Stop customer service to me was horrible when I brought this to their attention and they basically gave me the finger.

That said, everyone has different experiences and I am merely telling mine and those that say there are "No Issue with the Pads" cannot categorically say that but only can speak to "Their Experience" only and I will only speak from "My Experience". Two different experiences can both be True but one doesn't discount or make untrue the other's experience!

So although my rotors have lost their bright shining silver shine, a forum member suggested I try a product that might help with the browning/rusting of the rotors which I did. My post is not to get into a debate but to share "My Experience" and to Share a product to those who had their rotors discolored a product that won't get them back to the original shine but at least remove 75% of the discoloration.

I will note that it has taken about 10 applications of this solution to get them to where they are now as is illustrated in the pictures. I am hopeful that with more applications that they continue to improve. I initially bought the spray bottle and saw that it seemed to help but then wanted to continue to apply so I bought the gallon jug to continue to work on the rotors.

Note: You need to apply outside of your garage because the smell is really bad like rotten eggs so you want to be in an open area. I normally spray on at car wash, then wash the car and spray the wheels with the car wash wane after washing the car. I am feeling better about rotors but really miss how they looked prior!

I've had them for about 10,000 miles and I do not exhibit and discoloration of the rotors. Little dust and normal stopping power as well. I like them. -Bob
