On a cloudy Oregon day, a few SRF’rs went for a Corvette drive-n-lunch. WRP SPD has never had any wax, just CQ Finest. As to the extra picture below, a young man saw our cars, was so excited, asked if he could talk with us and visit our cars. When he left us ten minutes later, he said, “I am going to have a Corvette someday.”

That was a funny post. True be known, 1 unnamed person, a forum member, made his usual lunch money X 3 (or more), the remaining four of us did not wager even a penny. But we all sat at the lunch table for over three hours talking about fast cars. What fun! Especially as all of us has cleaned our cars within the last day (after a month of filth), and we all got home before the rains returned.

John, your C7 Masterpiece Z06 (WRP SPD) still looks better than showroom condition, you wont have a problem selling it when the C8 Masterpiece ME comes along!

Had my local detailer put Adams Car Coat ceramic coating on my 2015. I have to say I'm very impressed. Great shine, and it makes the car so easy to clean, as hardly anything sticks to it. I did a quick rinseless wash last night, and had a hard time getting the car wet. As soon as I wiped the surface with the solution, it ran off. Doesn't do anything about the orange peel, though.

A few pics from this morning.

My own front wheel, reflected in the open door.

My house, reflected in the trunk lid.

A model of my car, reflected in my car. Click to enlarge the image to full size, and note the detail in the reflection of the wheels.

These are called specular highlights. Again, view the image full size for best effect.

Looking very good Bob! I found the exact same easy cleaning and high reflectivity with RedHot's CQuartz Finest even after the treatment has been on for over 4 years!

Bob, your finish looks excellent and I'm glad that I had CQuartz Finest applied to our C7 Masterpiece when it was new.

Kyle,

The first step is to clean and polish the paint. Paint prep is crucial for great results. It is also very important to also use proper wiping towels. I use plush flannel like towels. I find a lot of micro fiber towels will scratch the paint. Wash the car and remove all contaminants. If needed it may need to be clay barred. Once the car is dry I use an orange cutting pad and use Meguiar's scratch x 2.0. I find it to be not as harsh as some cutting compounds and require less polishing afterwards. I will work on a panel with an orbital until you get a glass like finish with no scratches. If you apply pressure at first and then just let the buffer turn with no pressure you will get a very polished scratch free finish. I then use Wolfgang finishing glaze 3.0 polish with a blue waffle pad. Take your time and and really polish each panel. It will make a big difference in the end. Once polished I use Adams surface prep and put 2 coats of their Grafine coating on the car. I let it dry 24hr between coats. Note I find this product is easiest to apply when the temperature is in the upper 50's. I then applied 2 coats of Blackfire Black ice sealant wax. Again I wait 24hrs between coats. (I used to have a silver car that I used their Midnight sun wax. I think it would be a good substitute for lighter colored cars.) When wiping the excess wax off I use very little pressure. That is pretty much it. To maintain the shine I use Adams detail spray or sometimes use their Grafine detail spay. I am not sure how well the Graphine bonds to the wax, so I don't use it much.
