Since we had a beautiful day yesterday here in Colorado, I decided to let my daughter demonstrate launch control. I think she did pretty good, and that NPP sounds pretty good! Enjoy all!

Nice video.

Even though its a factory programmed feature, it is a feature I do not want to take advantage of. Just don't need to put the car thru that stress. Occasional spirited driving gives me enough thrills. My ham radio can transmit 2 kilowatts on output, but I never use it over 900 watts. Like to take good care of my stuff. Never run things to their limit. Its good enough for me just to know its there.

There was at least one story on this Forum of a guy who had to get a new engine after doing a coupla launch controls. Covered by warranty but ya know...

That "stress" is not unusual for these cars. These cars are very capable of doing these and wouldn't even be a feature if it was a big deal. GM wouldn't want to constantly do repairs for something that wasn't prudent to do. The engine replacement story had a lot more going on than a few launch controls.

Your ham radio is the Miata of radios. If you had an X-Band terminal that had a ridiculous amount of output, it would be no big deal to run it at 2KW.

These are PERFORMANCE cars. You can choose to drive them like a Camry, or go enjoy them.

While I was at Spring Mountain they gave us a demo on launch control. The first car they did it with was an A6. It made a loud bang and the car was completely dead. They said it had never happened before but I never want to hear that sound in a car I own.

My 2015 Z51 M7 has done this twice within 5600 miles. Both times covered under warranty. Both times entire brand new from assembly line rear ends. 1st time was 2nd launch ever... 2nd time was 3rd launch on the new rear end after 2700 miles of not attempting a launch

Update: Ginger wrote up details on launch control for each model type: Z51 and non-Z51 A6/8, and Z51 and non-Z51 M7. It's in the description of the video! Drive safe and have a great weekend!
