Would you have this fixed? Wait??

Was doing a rinseless wash today and noticed these on both sides. Would you have the dealer fix? Wait? I'm a little worried that if they try to fix it, they will mess it up more or screw something else up.

I would take it to the dealer and get it documented as a warranty claim. The actual timing of when I would get it fixed would be sometime later, with one reason being just to see how it progresses if left alone.

ronkh, if I were looking at your C7 masterpiece to buy it I would zero in on those areas. Red Star Clusters go off in my mind and I'm thinking to myself there was something wrong with this Vette. Even if you upgraded to a new C7, I think the dealership appraisal would point it out. I would talk with the body shop service manager concerning the situation. Hope you get it squared away soon and get back to 120%

Know you will be getting it fixed whenever you wish, as your dealer will accept this as a warranty claim especially since it is both sides.

ronkh - correct me if I'm wrong, but from some of your recent posts it seems like you've had a lot more issues with your new C7. Any misgivings or second thoughts about trading the 14 for the 16?

Good to hear your taking it in for the dealer to resolve, that is what I would do also. This WILL be your last hiccup with your new Z.

So went to the dealer today...

Went to service dept first to see "my service writer", (gave her some detail supplies last time). Showed her the problems, she showed me where it was starting at top of vents as well. She then got service manager to show him, he noted it and directed us to body shop.

She would only speak to body shop manager. Showed him the problems and made a point of telling him how particular I am...

He said the correct way of doing it was to remove both panels, then vents, prep panels, pain, let cure, then replace the vents, then replace the panels on car. He said the car won't be any where near paint booth to avoid overspray.

He told me He wanted it for at least 5 days to make sure it's done properly.

He wrote in big letters across work order DO NOT WASH :D

He had to order consumables and clips etc and is pretty well booked...... So appointment made for Sept 12.

Ron, it reads like the body shop manager is taking a personal interest in your situation and he wants it completed right the first time. I like how he stated it wont be near any areas to get overspray, that is a must!!!

Sorry to hear of this inconvenience. It's likely the paint match will be spot on if they are using all the modern tools and a high tech paint booth. But inspect it closely on completion. Maybe take a super bright LED light or they probably have a "sun light" to check it out. I learned from my recent experience that even when they are good from a customer service stand point, it may take a little extra emphasis (squeaky wheel) on your part to get it back to your level of satisfaction. Mine's not perfect and it bugs me (and only me!) every time I wash it.

Also, maybe you could post a picture before you get it fixed of where in relation to the vents this paint problem is so others might be on the look out in case this is a recurring problem.

If that's on a 2016, definitely get it fixed! I would be very suspicious as to the car being damaged before you took delivery. It does happen. In fact, it happened to me one time with an Oldsmobile Cutlass I ordered. The car was delivered to the dealer with a paint line on a black trim piece where the passenger door meets the side window bottom. I didn't notice it until a few weeks after I took delivery. I stayed on the dealer until they replaced the car I ordered with an identical brand new one! I had bought a few cars from this dealer so they took care of me pretty quick. It's the reason I don't always buy where I find the cheapest price. I buy from dealers I'm comfortable with. Good luck to you! I hope you get complete satisfaction on this issue from your dealer!
